The transition to Pax8 is almost complete, nine months after Umbrellar announced it's acquisition by the global cloud distribution disruptor. Find out how this Colorado-based company does things differently and why SMBs are destined to grow by partnering with Pax8.
The acquisition has enabled Pax8 to expand to the New Zealand market, picking up Umbrellar’s experience at cloud-enabling businesses and their standing as the number one service provider of Microsoft cloud in the market. As Pax8 CEO John Street noted, “Together, our technology, people, and resources will enable businesses in the APAC region to modernise, digitally transform, and fuel growth with cloud solutions.”
On a mission to be the world’s favourite marketplace for technology professionals, Pax8 focuses on simplifying the way organisations buy, sell and manage cloud solutions.
Their consolidated billing, automated provisioning, and industry-leading PSA integrations all modernise the channel’s cloud journey. Pax8 partners can quote, order, bill and provision cloud products on Pax8 Marketplace – and all with one monthly bill. The full list of partnership benefits include:
UK-based Dr Logic wanted to simplify and automate its existing billing and provisioning processes as it expanded. As they began their year of planned growth, the team needed an indirect provider that shared their company values to scale alongside their business.
“The processes we previously used were quite manual and had to be done well in advance. We hired a developer to help us build our own billing process, but there were still manual steps involved.” – Roman Marszalek, Owner and Managing Director of Dr Logic.
Personalising the Pax8 Marketplace platform and integrating it into Dr Logic’s PSA system made it significantly easier to link accounts and bill clients. Processes that were previously time-consuming became simple, saving the company hours every month.
It’s not just partners impressed with the simplicity of Pax8’s platform – every month, new vendors are jumping on board to sell their products.
Born-in-the-cloud vendor Wasabi launched in 2017 to commoditise cloud storage and make it readily available and affordable globally. They kept their operation direct to customers for the first few years to give themselves time to build a successful expansion plan. By 2019, they were ready to accelerate the business and prepped for a channel go-to-market launch.
They knew leveraging an expansive partner ecosystem would be critical to driving their solution adoption, so Wasabi went with Pax8. As Laurie Mitchell, Wasabi Vice President Partner and International Marketing said, “We were very excited to work with Pax8. Like Wasabi, Pax8 is also a born-in-the-cloud company and is dedicated to driving the digital transformation. We knew our missions, goals, and strategies aligned and would make an impactful partnership within the industry.”

As of April 1st 2023, Umbrellar will update its name and logo to Pax8 – but the ethos around providing best-in-class cloud services to New Zealand won’t be changing. Rather, joining the Pax8 whānau has given their ability to deliver ‘the cloud, done right’ a huge boost, with existing and potential partners gaining access to a universe of opportunity.

Managed services
Managed cloud services refers to outsourcing daily IT management for cloud-based services and technical support to automate and enhance your business operations. Often, internal IT departments don’t possess the skills to effectively monitor and maintain a cloud environment. In these situations, a company hires a third-party cloud managed services provider to manage cloud security, computing, storage, network operations, application stacks, vendors and more.
