Who is Craig Murphy? Channel Lead at Hewlett Packard Enterprise
Responsible for the channel business for HPE in New Zealand, Craig enjoys a great deal of variety in his role with the management of his team, fine tuning partner processes and building on those partner relationships. Craig reveals his productivity hacks, questionable golfing skills and his outlook on the next 12 months.
What do you do on the weekends?
I spend quality time with my three daughters, wife & dog. I spend time dropping off the kids to sports or we hike as a family. We did the Tongariro Crossing last school holidays and we’re currently eyeing up the Abel Tasman.
What’s your life motto?
Family first – my priority in everything I do.
What did you learn in 2020?
That Breaking Bad is a great series to watch when you aren’t leaving the house much!
How would your friends describe you?

What’s the one film you go to time and time again?
The Martian – Never Give Up! Sci-Fi Drama.
Who is/was the biggest inspiration in your working life?
So many to list, but I look to people who are respected and have mana and hope that one day I can be half as good as them. Fraser Scott, Mike Hill, Gary Bigwood, Justin Tye and Stu Alexander, to name a few.
What book is sitting on your bedside table right now?
Hellbent – Gregg Hurwitz. Great thriller! I recommend the series.
How do you rate your work/life balancing skills?
A work in progress but I am improving!
What’s your best productivity hack?
I have a ‘cc’ rule on my email inbox to filter out those I don’t directly need to action and can review later, and I make a weekly priority list.
What do you hope to achieve in the next 12 months?
With such a seismic shift from where we were this time last year to where we are now, trying to get an understanding of where it will be in 12 months’ time, what the new normal is going to be like.
Also, internally we are becoming a consumption-led business and we are challenging our partners to take the journey with us, looking forward to seeing who rises to the challenge!
If you could go back in time, what year would you travel to and why?
1991, I was 21 years old! Studying at University without a care in the world. My flatmates at that time are still hanging out with me today!
